Abstract

The conspicuity or visibility of traffic signals can be influenced unfavourably in an environment with public lighting (1) the yellow light of the traffic signal is almost of the same colour of the public lighting so there is little contrast, and (2) around traffic signals is mostly a setting of lamp fasts. Between these sources of light the traffic signal is hard to recognize and hardly visible. A countermeasure could be to construct a neonline around the traffic light.
