An overview is presented of the development of highway traffic in the netherlands during the period 1975-1980. 73% of the journeys are made by private car, 12% by public transport. Additional data related to traffic such as car sales, vehicle ownership, traffic densities on different days of the week, cost of fuel and the increasing number of people with a driving licence are also presented. This paper was presented at the working days on traffic engineering 1981 (see IRRD abstract no 255833) but is not published in the conference papers.
