Abstract

So far many authors have pointed at the relationship between spatial zoning systems and the performance of interaction models. Only a few of them have paid attention to the design of such zoning systems, however. In this paper a critical examination is presented of some of the most important principles underlying the conventional clustering techniques used in geography and related disciplines.
