Abstract

The task of driving a car can be divided into three hierarchical levels (1) strategic (2) manoeuvring and (3) acting. This latter forms the basis for the whole task of driving a car. The processing of data by drivers, which is central to control a car, is discussed. Relevant aspects to information processing by car drivers are dealt with, such as perception of traffic and traffic situations, driving strategy and driving operations.
