Abstract

The method of entropy maximization for deducting the gravity model makes use a number of hypotheses. One of them is the assumed existence of constraints, the solution has to fulfill. In this paper it is shown that any desired solution can be obtained by a proper choice of these constraints. As the meaning of the constraints is not clear, it is concluded that the hypothesis regarding the existence of constraints is unjustified. The method of entropy maximization offers no foundation or deduction, but merely a description of the gravity model.
