Abstract

This report contains the results of a literature study on the possibility of simulating linear accelerations by means of rotation and tilt. In the first part of the report it is attempted to make an estimate of the absolute threshold value for angular acceleration in the relevant dimensions. It appears to be that low that is must be considered impossible in the simulation that rotation can take place at subthreshold level. Nevertheless the literature gives reasons to expect that masking by concomitant factors may occur. These are discussed in the second part of the report.
