Abstract

Sample data of a detailed interaction matrix is characterized by high frequencies of small numbers : a large proportion of the interrelations has a sampled interaction frequency of 0.1 or 2. Even with large samples such figures will occur. Applying standard sample expansion procedures will lead in this case to population estimates having typical and undesired characteristics. The drawback of these procedures and some alternative procedures are presented.
