In the year 1995, the prototype of a computer model has been developed in which the connection between infrastructure, traffic and transport, and land use is simulated. Since then, this prototype named TIGRIS (Transport Infrastructure Land use Interaction Simulation) has been developed further. In this paper the position, the role and the surplus value of TIGRIS aredescribed in more detail. Besides that, the paper presents the results ofa model exercise in which the construction of high public transport quality in the "South wing" of the Dutch Randstad (RandstadRail) has been calculated.
