Abstract

Queueing on major roads has been studied based on daily radio reports both on the presence and time of disappearance of queues. These messages include location, road number, direction and length. From these data losses were estimated to be in the order of Dfl. 80-160 m per annum for motor cars and Dfl. 30-60 m for lorries, the major part of these amounts being caused by loss of time.
