Abstract

Indications can be found in the statistics on traffic safety that cyclists outside built-up areas run the risk of severe accidents. However, there is a lack of knowledge on this subject. This implies that as far as policy pays attention to cycle traffic this only occurs on the basis of common sense. Emphasis is laid rather unilateral on the construction of cycle tracks. Here alternative possibilities to increase the safety are considered.
