Abstract

Since 1975 the traffic accidents in the province of Noord-Brabant are studied in comparison with accidents in other provinces. The second phase of the study started in 1977. This study aimed to show the measures which could be taken to decrease the number of accidents. An important part of phase 2 is the study of the relationships between accidents and road situations which can be considered as causes for these accidents. For this study of the relationships many data of roads outside built-up areas, data on traffic and data on accidents must be collected. A method of collection was needed, which relates the data specifically to the road location. Road characteristics were gathered for each hundred meter and transverse profiles of each hundred meter sections were made. For earlier parts of the study see IRRD abstracts no 224121, 247065, 247066, 247814, 247815 and 249893.
