Abstract

A study has been made to the relationships between the working hours of lorry and bus drivers and traffic safety. The study consists of three parts: a limited literature review, an accident study and an expert interview. Some specifications are presented for a maximum working time, international standardization of working hours, standardization of the penalties of offending the legal time of working hours. Preventive and active supporting policies in the transport industry can be part of a good control system.
