Abstract

From 1974 to 1979 the number of traffic fatalities decreased with almost 30% as compared with 1969 to 1974, due to measures for passive safety as legislation on safety belts, crash helmets, bicycle reflectors, blood alcohol content etc. The highway design is a subject for further study. In particular the categorization of highways outside- built- up areas and the approach to accident black spots is important.
