Abstract

This papers describes the results of an investigation into both the demand for, and the possible deterrents to using, three different methods of communication. The communication methods studied are: a) travelling to visit people on business; b) communication by letter; and c) communication by telephone. Origin destination tables were used to calculate the potential for each communication method to: a) increase levels of communication; and b) to deter communication between people. The results clearly show that there are relationships between these different modes of communication. The level of communication is affected as well as the type of communication mode used.
