Abstract

Finally, the experimenters tested the assumption that the shrinkage of visual field is caused by reduced retinal metabolism --that is, less oxygen is being used by the system. They reduced the oxygen being supplied to younger subjects, and obtained temporary decreases in vision similar to that noted in older subjects.
