Abstract

The need for long-range forecasts is discussed, problems with the current urban transportation planning process (UTP) and travel demand forecasting models are described, and proposals for improving the overall UTP process are presented. The discussion of the nature of the problems with current methods is often interwoven with recommendations for their solution. A diagram illustrating the overall planning process is presented.
