Abstract

This paper reports on progress made toward introducing Advanced Transport Telematics (ATT)-based demand management schemes in Europe. The first section presents the context of the Area 1 activities - being the perspective from which this overview is made. The second section reviews recent Area 1 strategic actions. The rest of the paper then focuses on specific developments - primarily upon the activities of the DRIVE2 projects - but it also makes reference to relevant work from elsewhere in Europe that has been presented and discussed at Area 1 meetings. The projects discussed are: CASH, CARDME, CORD, ADEPT, ADS, COMIS and GAUDI.
