Demand management (DM) is the final aim of the GAUDI Project, which provides authorities with tools for the control of transport demand, through direct costing or access rights management. This paper presents: a) the current level of costs incurred and actually supported by users and non-users in EU cities; b) the general means proposed for mobility control, limit cost distortions, influence user patterns; c) the GAUDI concepts, services and systems used for demand management (integrated payment); and d) the results observed in the GAUDI tests in Trondheim, Barcelona, Dublin, Marseilles and Bologna.
