Abstract

Most city planners agree that any solution to the urban transportation problem will involve the diversion of auto mobile users into some form of mass transportation. This paper explores some of the factors which influence the commuter's choice of mode. It attempts to provide quantitative estimates of the degree of transit improvement which will be necessary to attract commuters.
