Abstract

The paper addresses the transportation planning implications of the increasing involvement of women, increasingly with children in the paid labour force. Since the turn of the century labour force participation by women has more than doubled in both the U.S. and The Netherlands; while growing more slowly in the latter, the trend is unmistable.
