Abstract

A demonstration experiment of a roadside dynamic advisory speed information system has commenced on a 10 kilometre stretch of arterial road in Melbourne. The information system, ADVISE, obtains data from the adaptively controlled traffic signals, predicts the future signal status and calculate constant speed trajectories through several intersections, as necessary, under multiple constraints. The development of the sign format and hardware is described.
