Abstract

This study estimates the impact of airport noise on property values for detached houses and, for the first time in the literature, for multiple-unit residential condominiums (buildings with many individually-owned units, either owner-occupied or rented by that owner to another party) and for vacant land. It is over a decade since the majority of similar studies were done, and this study provides some indication as to whether heightened environmental concerns have altered the valuation of noise. Section 2 presents a brief review of the literature and a discussion of the model chosen. The questions which prompted this study are then discussed. Sections 3 to 6 discuss the site, the data, the results, and conclusions respectively. (Author/publisher).
