Abstract

This publication details consideration of the Department for Transport's annual report for 2007 by the UK Government, more specifically the House of Commons Transport Committee. The formal minutes of the Committee and oral and written evidence presented to the Committee are included. The topics considered are listed under headings: Objectives, structure and effectiveness (shared services, data loss by Driver and Vehicle Operator Group agencies), the Department's management of expenditure (uncertain cost of existing programmes, local transport funding, and performance against the efficiency targets), the Department's Public Service Agreement targets (current PSA targets, future PSA targets, future Departmental funding and efficiency), the Department's impact on economic growth and productivity (performance against road construction PSA targets, road pricing and the Transport Innovation Fund, lorry road user charging, performance against the rail PSA target), the Environment (performance against climate change PSA target, climate change adaptation, performance against the air quality PSA target, cycle lanes), Enforcement (performance against the road safety PSA target, vehicle excise duty evasion).
