Abstract

25 % of all fatal road accidents could have been prevented if: 1) there would have been more qualified helpers among the population; 2) cars would have been equipped with first aid material and 3) there would be more willingness to help. The author appeals for the doctor to perform a stimulating action and puts forward three points: a) every doctor must be instructed to give medical aid at accidents; b) a doctor instructed in this way could stimulate others and c) such a large scale program cannot be implemented without the support and the impulses from the doctors themselves.
