Abstract

Unlike the hypothesis that one-eyed drivers are more accident-prone than two-eyed drivers, the statistical analyses at the forensic medical institute of Zurich show that in general there is no increased accident proneness. Collisions, however occurred twice as much, probably because of deficient distance judging. Other deficiencies were compensated by a more cautious behaviour and more frequent head movements.
