Abstract

Legislation aimed at removing architectural (environmental) barriers from schools, business, traffic, transport and housing will afford the disabled to opportunity for the social and economic gains open to most citizens. The surface is critical to safe passage for pedestrians. Uneveness raised joints, or detris van be hazardous. Examples are given and recommendations for improved accessibility are presented.
