Due to their beautiful appearance, strong plasticity, and excellent structural performance, the cast-steel joints have gradually become a new rising type of joints of the long-span steel-pipe modern architectural structures. At present, there are more and more requirements on the shapes of bridges, and many landscape bridges with new and unique shapes and complicatedstructures have emerged, some of which are designed with large-scale steel-pipe intersecting joints. This paper presents the use of cast-steel joints as an innovative approach to two large-scale pipe intersecting joints of the special-shaped tower in the design of a landscape cable-stayed bridge crossing over an expressway. The design methods of cast-steel joints arealso discussed in this paper, which can provide references to similar projects.
