Abstract

A static creep tester has been constructed in the Road and Bridge Research Institute in Warsaw, Poland and the creep method has been adopted to improve the standard mix composition design. The extensive laboratory tests have revealed the usefulness of the creep method for evaluation of deformability of conventional bituminous mixes. Test samples were prepared in laboratory and cored from a pavement. Some correlations have been found. Mix design recommendations for continuously graded dense bituminous concrete have been proposed and stiffness modulus requirement has been established. It is intended to put into practice this method in regional laboratories in Poland.
