Abstract

This paper describes a wheel slide protection system in which a hydraulic power source is utilized to modulate the braking effort at each wheel of the vehicle. The reasons for selecting this type of power source are discussed with respect to tyre adhesion characteristics, skidding caused by wheel locking after which evaluations are carried out on different vehicles over a wide range of surfaces.
