Abstract

The development and test of a photo-optic system to continuously measure and record lateral lane position of a test vehicle are reported. The device, which is mounted on the vehicle, detects vehicle position with respect to the pavement shoulder line and is said to have been sensitive to differences in driving behaviour when it was tested trough shallow right and left curves.
