Abstract

A base vehicle, the Simca 1308, was re-designed in order to develop a vehicle design which meets most of the objectives of the Research Safety Vehicle. Major emphasis has been placed on development of crash protection systems, i.e., low-speed vehicle damage control, pedestrian injury reduction and occupant protection.
