Abstract

The importance of taking the designer's experience and human factor into account when designing roads and of applying basic standards in order to improve safety are stressed. Special mention is made of the importance of design speed, coordination of horizontal and vertical alignment elements, visibility distance, the road environment and some technical improvements.
