Abstract

Continuous observation of accident trends and development by local authority to discover accident black spots is of great importance. Here mainly the facts of the individual accidents should be evaluated, such as road surface and lighting conditions during the accident, as well as the type of accidents, such as single vehicle accident, rear-end collisions, head-on collisions, pedestrian accidents. The layout of a new road should begin with the design speed, then construction would be made in accordance with this speed, taking full account of human factors in the drivers. It was pointed out that in one country legal speed limits were not based on design speeds but on the view of the public authorities- Such limits sometimes varied on the same road, according the which authorities area it was passing through.
