Abstract

ITCDS (Intelligent Traffic Control Design System) is a simulation system for the real-time traffic flow control. The program language is written in Visual C++. It is implemented to resolve the traffic situation of node or network control. The goal is to establish a variable signal timing control system. At first, the paper discusses the principle of design. It includes the basic hypothesis of this program, the definition of a road and a node, and the action of a car. It is different from other simulation systems, because others usually use math models to resolve the traffic problem. But the ITCDS program uses the above design principles to improve the traffic situation. In other sections, this paper introduces the function and property of ITCDS. Traffic parameters are the index of evaluating traffic situation. The last part puts forward the data of experiment. The experiment compares the performance of parameters in other simulation systems with the ITCDS program. From the charts of the experiment, the ITCDS program indeed can improve the traffic situation. For the covering abstract see ITRD E114174.
