Abstract

A means of quickly and objective identifying the impaired driver without unduly inconveniencing the majority of sober drivers is the Passive Alcohol Sensor (PAS) developed by Lion Laboratories Ltd, U.K. and Prototypes Inc., USA. The PAS incorporates an electrochemical fuel cell alcohol sensor in a standard flashlight. The apparatus and its efficiency are discussed.
