Detection of vehicle velocity changes in car-following.

Abstract

A mathematical model for car following has been developed from previous publications. The method is based on change in the visual angle and the rates of change in the visual angle of the driver who sees the preceding vehicle. It appears that with a small rate of change of the visual angle the detection performance is impaired.
