Abstract

This paper develops several econometric models to evaluate the determinants of motor vehicle related fatalities with special consideration to the efficacy of four policy- type variables in reducing fatalities. The policy variables include motor vehicle inspection, the minimum legal drinking age, alcohol consumption and the average speed of free moving vehicles.
