Abstract

This paper reports some findings of a study that examined the determinants of parking duration of shopping centre visitors. Data on parking behaviour of visitors of various shopping centres in the Dutch province of Noord-Brabant was used to analyse the effect of various behavioural, shopping destination-related, and parking-related characteristics. The analyses show that parking type, parking restriction, time of payment, walking distance, origin of the visitor, travel time, shopping centre type, and shopping activity are important attributes influencing the average duration of parking of shopping centre visitors.
