Abstract

An infra-red gas analyser for the determination of alcohol in the breath was produced. A non-dispersive positive-filter type with an interference cell was adapted. With the use of this instrument, a breath analysis can be made in a extremely short period of time, with simple operation. The accuracy and the reliability of the readings of the analyser were examined by gas chromatography. The advantages and its application to the medico-legal practice are discussed.
