Abstract

A scheme is presented for carrying out a market analysis on a "Demand responsive Jitney system"(DJ). This type of local public transport, which stands between a bus and a taxi, is based on a computer service for allocating, routing and planning the vehicles. The market analysis uses a two-tier approach: method of paired comparison (law of comparative judgment) and the linear (semantic) scaling method, both of which are described. The statistical techniques to be used in the evaluation of the results from the enquet range from regression analysis to cluster analysis.
