Deterministic versus probabilistic strategies in detection.

Abstract

A binary detection task, free from sensory components, is investigated. A deterministic model prescribing a fixed cutoff point is confirmed; a probabilistic model, which generalizes Lee's micromatching model for externally distribution stimuli, is rejected.
