Abstract

The main results from the ACTIF intelligent transportation systems (ITS) framework architecture initiative for France, which applies and adapts the KAREN European intelligent transportation systems (ITS) framework architecture at a national level, will be made available in 2001. The project output notably comprises a coherent ITS architecture model available on a web site (http://www.its-actif.org) and ported onto an advanced design tool, at a logical and physical level. Its scope covers terrestrial modes of transport and their interfaces with air and maritime modes, for freight and passenger transport. ACTIF also provides recommendations for the technical, legislative, statutory and organisational aspects of ITS for a set of 10 priority domains, on which the current architecture version is based.
