Abstract

TRB’s Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board, No. 2038 includes 21 papers that explore housing policy impact on transportation infrastructure in Chinese cities; the impact of public transportation's past on its future in Bogota, Colombia; urban traffic infractions in Kuwait; pedestrian behavior at unsignalized midblock crosswalks in Beijing, China; improving road safety in China; mobility and travel patterns in Chennai, India; and commute mode choice in a developing country. This issue of the TRR also examines electric two-wheelers in China; projection of Chinese motor vehicle growth; land and transportation development in China; seat belt use effect on road accidents in Thailand; pedestrian crossings in Trinidad and Tobago; vehicle ownership modeling in Thailand; freeway speed difference impact on traffic safety in China; and rail transit and residential land use and property prices in Bangkok, Thailand. In addition, this TRR examines transit-oriented development in China; household income, travel behavior, location, and accessibility in two different developing contexts; commute trip chaining in Shangyu, China; traffic crash characteristics on freeways in China; vehicle activity patterns and emissions in Pune, India; and modeling bus lane priorities in a motorcycle environment.
