Abstract

This paper provides a guide to the development of National, Local and specific System Architectures from the European ITS Framework Architecture, otherwise known as the KAREN Architecture. The background to the development of this Architecture is briefly discussed and is followed by a description of a general architecture development process. The steps that must be followed to develop a particular Architecture are then explained. These steps contain advice on how to use the KAREN Architecture and tools, as well as how the developed Architecture can be enhanced to suit particular circumstances. The possibility of using the Object Oriented (OO) architecture development method for developments from the KAREN Architecture is also briefly discussed. For the covering abstract see ITRD E114174.
