This paper describes the advanced parking assistance system developed in the Human Interactive Driving Support System (HID) project framework. A real-time high accuracy absolute position sensing was used to compose the system. The main issues in implementing the assistance system are the position sensing and the human guidance through human interface. The guidance approach is based on path generation using parking possibility region and human interface using audio-visual display. The developed human interface, positioning and guidance schemes, simulations and experiments carried out are presented. (A*)
