Abstract

The authors have been engaged in research and development of "AHS for smoother traffic" as countermeasures utilizing Advanced cruise-assist Highway System. As part of this work, they have reviewed a "Service to adjust lane utilization rates" which aims at reducing congestion, adjusting the balance of lane utilization by providing drivers with appropriate information in sag sections just before congestion occurs. This paper presents the results of a stud y performed in connection with the development of this service. In this study, vehicle behaviours were analyzed from consecutive video recordings. Some service methods are proposed. For the covering abstract see ITRD E134653.
