Abstract

This paper presents an integrated communication architecture for interurban dynamic traffic management systems as part of an integrated road transport environment. The communication requirements of various dynamic traffic control applications are discussed and a protocol profile that considers both the fixed network communication and roadside-vehicle communication via beacons is defined. Thereupon, a performance analysis of the selected protocols is covered by an example. Finally, the design of a sophisticated simulation model that allows data flow analysis for network management purposes is described. (A)
