Abstract

The urban public transport in Bucharest, the capital city of Romania, is provided about 25 per cent by the underground transport network. The total length of the underground transport network is 63.5 km and has 45 passenger stations. The development and improved efficiency of the underground transport in view of becoming the main public transport mode is presented in this present paper. The paper deals with two major directions for action: development and modernisation of the underground network as well as institutional restructuring. For the covering abstract see ITRD E116619.
