Abstract

The way young children watch TV. and how TV. viewing changes in the first few years of life is studied. Analyses showed a large increase with age in visual attention to the TV. By age 3 not only has viewing TV. as a purposive behaviour developed, but also clear individual differences in patterns of TV. viewing have been articulated. What children watch when they watch TV. is important in designing programs that help children learn.
