Abstract

The authors have developed a DARC (DAta Radio Channel) high speed FM sub-carrier type DGPS (Differential Global Positioning System) technology to greatly improve the precision and reliability of the GPS satellite positioning, which is used as a key technology for navigation systems for safe, efficient, comfortable driving. As a result of the experiment for verification of this system, it has confirmed the superior results. Application and implementation of this newly developed technology will realize door-to-door level high accuracy such as highly-reliable pinpoint route guidance and precise display in the residential map level with large volume traffic information of ITS. This method has been proposed and accepted as a national BTA (Broadcast Technology Association) Standard, and is in service in Japan.
